SharePoint and Project Server Installation and Configuration Steps
Pre-Requisites
1. Install IIS 5.0 with No Front Page Server Extensions on the STS
server
2. Install SQL 2000 on a different server or use an existing SQL
server with at least SP1 installed. (SP2 available)
3. Install SQL Server components (Analysis Services) for OLAP
capabilities.
4. SQL in mixed mode (SQL / Domain Authentication)
5. Registry Change to use TCP/IP instead of Name Pipes (default)
KLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\ConnectTo
Change from DSQUERY = DBNMPNTW / DBNETLIB to DSQUERY = DBMSSOCN
(Refer to Technet doc: "Large-Scale Deployment of SharePoint Team
Services")
6. Create SQL login with System Administration privilages during
install (Don't use SA since the password is displayed on the registry
in clear text)
SharePoint Team Services Installation:
1. Launch []
2. Use Default Web Site
3. Enter the DB Server, SQL Logon Name, and password
4. Make note of the results from the Wizard (You will need these
later)
Note: If the wizard failes to complete, remove STS, remove reboot and
re-install IIS. Although you may be able to extend the Default Web
Site successfully, other problems may surface at a later stage.
ProjectServer Installation:
1. Launch []
2. Choose Custom
3. Create a New DB
4. Enter the DB Server NetBIOS name
5. Connect using Windows Authentication
OLAP
6. Enter the SQL Analysis Server
7. Connect as: DOMAIN\Administrator
8. Select Default Web Site for the Virtual Directory
E-mail Notifications
9. Enter the SMTP Server
10. Port: 25
11. From: SharePoint@[]
STS integration
12. Enter information from STS Wizard a)STS, b)Web Server Port,
c)SharePoint Admin port
13. Enter the Windows User Account: DOMAIN\Administrator Password:
****
14. Enter the DB Server
15. DB Name (From STS Wizard something like: sts_LM_W3SVC_1_Collab)
16. Microsoft Project Professional 2002 (according to your needs but
2000 is the default)
17. Enter ProjectServer Password (8 characters min)
Post-Installation:
18. Install Web Components []
19. Install Microsoft Decision Support Objects (DSO)
Note: This is included on the SQL Server CD
20. Run [] Create\Update+ Apps
21. Run [] -d -p "sts_server" "<local>;
[]"

23. Change Anonymous Access Settings to Contributor instead of Browser
24. Enable Web Discussions, Web Subscritions and Analysis
